| PECAN - GRAFTING PECAN TREES - PECANS FOR SALE | ||
|
Pecan trees provide delicious pecans along with being good shade trees. Grafting provides a way to insure good pecans. Seedling pecans rarely produce quality pecans. By grafting several varietes on the same tree, you can insure good polination and determine the best variety for your area. PecanWorld provides pecan and other fruit tree information as well as grafting tips for the hobby gardener. These resources include information on collecting scion wood and grafting procedures. I have several links to University Research Papers detailing this process along with some important details that are often omitted. I have been grafting pecan, apple, pear, and peach trees in Southern Illinois for over 25 years. These techniques allow you to make grafts faster with a high success rate. I also sell scion wood. I had dificulty locating a source for scion wood. I have purchased entire trees to get a desired variety. I have collected varieties from neighbors and other sources to get the varieties that I have. I sell it for $2 per stick (usually 2 Grafts) and $6.00 shipping. The varieties that I have are shown at this link. SCIONWOOD |
